As Close as I Can Get

For the piece, As Close As I Can Get, I knelt before the gates at Livermore Livermore Labs and rolled soft resin rods out on the pavement in front of me.
Once cured, the surface texture of the resin recorded a three-dimensional map of the last three inches of civilian access before the gates.
I covered the rod with powdered graphite, a naturally radioactive resistant material that is used in the cores of nuclear reactors.
